Turkey to Stop Illegal Navigation with Abkhazia

Turkish Minister of State Mehmet Kececiler stated after the meeting with Georgian President Shevardnadze on April 6 that Turkish ships would stop illegal navigation in the Black Sea off the shores of Georgia’s breakaway region of Abkhazia.

Georgian border guards have detained Turkish ships for several times. One of them was even prosecuted by the Georgian side for smuggling in Abkhazia.

Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze thanked Turkish Minister of State for supporting Georgia’s territorial integrity.
