Georgia Says S.Ossetian Militia Resume Attacks
The South Ossetian militia resumed shelling of the Georgian villages of Nuli and Avnevi at around noon on August 7, the Georgian Interior Ministry said.
No other details were reported in the Ministry’s brief press release.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Interfax news agency reported that a convoy of twenty military trucks with Georgian servicemen, as well as three artillery systems and three multiple rocket launchers had been seen moving from Kutaisi, a western Georgian town, in the direction of Gori, a town close to the breakaway region.
South Ossetian secessionist leader Eduard Kokoity warned on August 7 that South Ossetian forces would target and drive out Georgian forces from their firing positions near Tskhinvali if the shelling continued.
