Ruling Party Launches TV Ads
“Deeds instead of words” – the ruling National Party’s political TV ad says. The ruling party is the first to start TV ads ahead of the May 21 parliamentary elections.
A voice (of popular singer Buba Kikabidze) in the ad tells voters that the authorities have already delivered with many of its promise, including increase of minimal monthly pensions, “but it is not enough.” “The National Movement in [new] Parliament will secure increase of minimal pension to USD 100 till the end of 2009.”
The ruling party is already actively engaged in its election campaign. Nino Burjanadze, the Parliamentary Chairperson, who leads the National Movement’s party list of MP candidates, took a leading role in the campaign.
She has already launched series of trips to provincial regions meeting with locals and introducing the ruling party’s majoritarian MP candidates. During the meetings with the local residents Burjanadze mainly emphasizes on the authorities’ willingness to, as she puts it, “listen to the people” and “to be close to the people.”
