GEL 35,000 on Natelashvili Election Campaign

GEL 35,454 (about USD 22,200) was spent on Labor Party leader Shalva Natelashvili’s election campaign, according to the campaign’s official financial records submitted to the Central Election Commission (CEC).


More than half of that came from Labor Party funds, with the remainder – GEL 15,635 – contributed by five individuals.


Natelashvili, who extensively used free airtime allocated by the law, spent only GEL 565 on production of political TV ads, according to the financial records.


Natelashvili, according to the final official results, gained 6.5% of the vote in the January 5 presidential election.


Mikheil Saakashvili, according to his campaign’s official financial records, spent up to GEL 23 million on his re-election campaign.


Other presidential candidates have yet to submit financial records – the deadline is February 18.
