Opposition Leader: Saakashvili as Illegitimate as Secessionist Leaders

David Berdzenishvili, one of the leaders of the opposition Republican Party, said the opposition would not recognize Mikheil Saakashvili as the legitimate president.

“There have been two illegitimate, separatist presidents in Georgia – Eduard Kokoity [of South Ossetia] and Sergey Bagapsh [of Abkhazia]. Now we have a third, Saakashvili. Neither we [the opposition] nor the general public are going to tolerate this,” Berdzenishvili told journalists.
