Court Rejects Complaints on Procedural Grounds
Tbilisi City Court has turned down a complaint submitted by observer organization New Generation – New Initiative (nGnI), which had demanded the cancellation of the final vote tally of additional lists throughout the country.
The court cited procedural violations behind its refusal to consider the complaint.
New Generation – New Initiative claims that the Central Election Commission (CEC) improperly carried out the process of counting 35,772 ballots cast by voters registered on election day. Of those concerned, Mikheil Saakashvili received 20,403 votes and Levan Gachechiladze – 8,500.
The court also rejected a complaint filed by the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA), which had sought to invalidate the results from the Krtsanisi district in Tbilisi. The court said the complaint contained procedural mistakes.
