CEC Gives New Voter Turnout Figure

A total of 1,976,208 voters turned out for the January 5 election, the Central Election Commission (CEC) announced on January 11.

The figure is different from the one announced by the CEC earlier. Levan Tarkhnishvili, the CEC chairman, said on January 6 that 1,912,943 people had voted.

The figure announced on January 6 did not include overseas voters – 10,733. After summing up these two figures the number – 1,923,676 – does not anyway match with the voter turnout number announced by the CEC on January 11 – 1,976,208.
