Exit Polls: Ruling Party Leads in Tbilisi

According to the early results of exit polls carried out by Business Consulting Group, the ruling National Movement party garnered most of the votes in the capital Tbilisi.


Exit polls were commissioned by the Public Broadcasting Company, Imedi, Rustavi 2 and Mze television stations.


National Movement ? 56,4%;
A coalition of Republican and Conservative parties ? 8,1%;
Labor Party ? 5,2%;
Industrialists ? 4,3%.

Two other parties running in the polls, Georgia?s Way and Party of National Ideology, failed to garner 4% of votes, according to the exit polls.

20% of those who were polled refused to name a favorite party.

Early official results by the Central Election Commission will be unveiled by midnight.


12 seats in the Tbilisi municipality ? Sakrebulo – will be distributed proportionally between parties that garner at least 4%.


25 members will be elected through a first-past-the-post, ?winner takes all? majoritarian system in Tbilisi?s ten constituencies.
