JCC to Meet in Moscow

A session of the Joint Control Commission (JCC), which oversees the ceasefire in the South Ossetian conflict zone, will be held in Moscow on October 24-25, the press office of the Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues reported on October 13.

This will be the first meeting of the quadripartite JCC, which involves negotiators from the Georgian, South Ossetian, Russian and Russia?s North Ossetian sides, after the September 20 mortar shelling of the South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali, which injured ten civilians.

After this incident Tskhinvali announced that it will suspend its participation in the commission until official Tbilisi apologizes for shelling Tskhinvali. The Georgian side, which denied having any links to the shelling, stated that the negotiating format in frames of the JCC is ?unfair? and needs to be changed.

According to the State Minister?s press office, the Georgian side, which will be led by State Minister Giorgi Khaindrava, will outline Tbilisi?s position over the current peace format during the talks in Moscow.
