Putin sets 9/11 Ultimatum to Georgia

(September 11, Sochi, Russian Federation) Russia’s President Vladimir Putin speaking in Sochi in commemoration of 9/11 attacks had practically set an ultimatum to Georgia identifying the country as a sourse of terrorist threat. Putin claimed Russia would use the Article 51 of the UN Charter giving Russia the right of self-defense against the external threat. He ordered the Russian law enforement agencies to re-enforce Russo-Georgian border, the MInistry of Defense and the General Staff to outline the plans for pre-emptive strikes against the terrorist bases in framework of the operation “pursuit.”

Putin said Georgia ignores the provisions of the resolution 1373 of the UN Security Council and promised to appeal to the UN Security council to outline the extent of terrorist threat emanating from Georgia. Putin said “noone can deny… that people partaking in the [9/11] attacks on the USA and immediate executors of Moscow apartment bombings are hiding in Georgia.”
