Labor Party Boycotts Parliament

Leader of the Labor Party Shalva Natelashvili announced on November 21 that his party will not take seats in the new Parliament. 

He said that the Labor Party does not intend enter the Parliament, when thousands of Georgian citizens are protesting against the new Parliament.

He said that the current political crisis is a result of “the struggle for power between Saakashvili-Burjanadze-Zhvania and President Shevardnadze.” Natelashvili said that he does not want to participate in this process.

According to the final results of the November 2 parliamentary election results, which the United States condemned as fraudulent, the Labor Party received 12% support, which enabled the party to take 20 seats in the new Parliament.

Mikheil Saakashvili, a key opposition leader, welcomed Shalva Natelashvili’s decision to boycott the Parliament.
