CEC Cancels Accreditation for Rustavi 2 TV Channel
The Central Election Commission (CEC), which so far delays to announce final results of the November 2 parliamentary elections, canceled late on November 13 accreditation for Rustavi 2 TV company, as a result the journalists of this TV channel are deprived of reporting from the CEC building.
The CEC members, who supported the issue, accused that the Rustavi 2 TV channel of moral damage and mounting pressure on CEC with broadcasting video of anti-governmental Kmara (Enough) youth movement, warning the CEC members “not to assist the authorities in rigging” parliamentary election results.
Only representatives of the National Movement, Burjanadze-Democrats and the New Rights parties voted against the decision. While other 12 members including Chairperson of the CEC Nana Devdariani supported decision.
