National Movement Leads in Parallel Vote Tabulation Results

The election observer NGO International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED), which deployed up to 3,000 observers around Georgia, conducted parallel vote tabulation (PVT) on November 2 parliamentary elections for the first time in Georgia.

Below are the results of the PVT, announced by the ISFED on November 3:

1. Saakashvili-National Movement –   26,6%
2. For New Georgia (pro-presidential bloc) –    18,92%
3. Labor Party –   17.3%
4. The Burjanadze-Democrats –   10.15%
5. The Revival Union –   8,13%
6. The New Rights –   7,99%
7. Industry will Save Georgia –   5,2%

The ISFED claims that the margin of error of PVT results would not exceed 2%.

The observers of ISFED counted the votes cast on November 2 parliamentary elections simultaneously with the officials of the precinct election commissions. The PVT is one of the measures to avoid manipulations of election results.

According to the Central Election Commission’s (CEC) preliminary results pro-presidential election alliance For New Georgia leads the elections so far.

The CEC counted the votes cast in 450 precincts out of 2,870. According to these preliminary results, alliance For New Georgia received 27,6%; the Saakashvili-National Movement bloc – 23%; the Labor Party – 16,1%; the Burjanadze-Democrats bloc 9,6%; the New Rights – 8,7%; the Industrialists Party – 5,9% and the Revival Union – 5%.

This is not final result as the CEC has to count votes cast in 2,420 precincts.

Only those parties which could clear 7% barrier will be able to secure votes in the new 235-seat Parliament.
