Geostat: Annual Inflation 1.1% in June

Georgia’s annual inflation slowed to 1.1% in June from 2.1% in May, the state statistics office, Geostat, said on Monday.

On a monthly basis prices fell 0.9% in June after 0.4% deflation in May.

Prices in the group of alcoholic beverages and cigarettes rose by 11.6% year-on-year in June, caused mostly by increase of excise tax on tobacco and alcohol products.

Annual inflation in the healthcare group stood at 4.3% in June, driven by 9.4% y/y increase of prices for outpatient services, and 2.3% y/y price increase of prices for hospital services.

Inflation in the group of housing, water, electricity and gas was up 6.1% y/y in June.

Prices for hotels and restaurants services increased 6.3% y/y in June and prices for communication services were up by 3.2%.

Prices in the transport group were down by 9.5% y/y in June, driven mostly by 18% y/y fall of prices on vehicles.
