U.S. Ambassador John Tefft said at the Tbilisi Forum “Europe’s New Wave of Liberation” on November 22 that the United States “is encouraged with [Georgian] Prime Minister’s efforts to work with Kazakhstan” over import of gas.
Georgian PM Zurab Nogaideli visited Kazakhstan on November 18-19 and agreed, according to the Georgian Energy Ministry, to import 2 billion cubic meters of gas annually.
But to import Kazakh gas Georgia will need a consent of the Russian side, as the gas has to flow via Russia.
