Russia Says Peacekeepers Attacked in West Georgia

(Tbilisi February 13, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Russian Peacekeepers’ checkpoint deployed in the Abkhazian conflict zone was fired at on February 13, causing no casualties, Russian media sources reported quoting headquarters of the peacekeeping forces.

Georgian authorities could not confirm that fact of attack.

On the same day in town of Zugdidi, western Georgia, near the administrative border with breakaway Abkhazia, unknown persons attacked the Russian peacekeepers’ lorry with the Molotov cocktail, Russian media claims. No casualties are reported.
