Shevardnadze Urges MPs to Adopt Budget

(Tbilisi, January 13, 2003. Civil Georgia) – President Shevardnadze called the Parliament today to adopt the 2003 draft budget. “Rejection of the budget already caused numerous problems,” Shevardnadze said in the radiobroadcast today.

MPs rejected the draft budget in late December. Opposition demanded to increase the expenditures. The new draft with the minor changes is already submitted to the Parliament.

“The Parliamentary special session will be held by the end of this week to discuss the draft budget. I urge the Parliamentarians to adopt the draft, that would enable us to avoid many problems,” the President said.
