Disputed Parliament Approves 2026 State Budget

Georgia’s disputed parliament approved the 2026 state budget on December 10, with 80 MPs voting in favor and nine against.

Georgian Dream Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili presented the budget project to lawmakers from the ruling Georgian Dream party and the opposition Gakharia For Georgia.

According to him, the real economic growth is projected at 5% in 2026, and medium-term growth at 5.3%. Average annual inflation is forecast at 3.3%, against a 3% target. Nominal GDP is projected at USD 114.1 billion, with GDP per capita exceeding USD 11,300, Khutsishvili said.

Consolidated budget tax revenues are set at GEL 27.4 billion. The budget deficit is projected at 2.5% of GDP, while government debt is expected to decline to 33.5%. Total expenditures under the consolidated budget will amount to GEL 36.285 billion, with revenues projected at GEL 30.76 billion, the minister added.
