Abkhazian Issue – New Russian Envoy’s Priority

(Tbilisi, December 13, 2002. Civil Georgia) – Georgian President received newly appointed Russian ambassador’s credentials today.

After the meeting with the Georgian President Russia’s new envoy Vladimir Chkhikvishvili told the reporters that the Abkhazian issue would be in the center of his diplomatic activity in Georgia.

“I am Russia’s ambassador in Georgia. As Abkhazia is the part of Georgia surely I intend to visit Abkhazia,” Vladimer Chkhikvishvili said.

Earlier Chkhikvishvili, which is ethnic Georgian, stated that the troubled relations between Georgia and Russia are left in the past.
