Nino Burjanadze, the former parliamentary chairperson, is expected to give her first interview since quitting the ruling party in April.
Burjanadze is expected to be interviewed by the Georgian Public Broadcaster’s bi-weekly late-night program Comment of the Day at 10pm local time on Tuesday, June 17, a public TV representative told Civil.Ge on Tuesday morning.
Burjanadze on April 21 announced her departure from the ruling party and said she would not contest the parliamentary elections because of a disagreement over the party-list; she, however, did not give further details. Although she said at the time that she was not going to join the opposition, she refused to speak about her plans. On election day, May 21, Burjanadze told journalists in a brief comment at a polling station that she would “definitely answer questions” about why she had quit the ruling party “in the future.”
