EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana has welcomed the release of four Russian officers charged with espionage by Georgia.
“I hope normal relations can now be re-established between Russia and Georgia. The European Union stands ready to facilitate contacts between the sides and to support further confidence-building measures,” he said.
Javier Solana phoned President Saakashvili on September 30 and cautioned him ?against the risk of further escalation? because of the spy row.
