Defense Minister Visits Batumi for Election Campaigning

Speaking from Batumi in a live interview with Rustavi 2 television, Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili said that he is in the Adjara Autonomous Republic to help National Movement party activists in campaigning for the October 5 local self-governance elections.

?I am here to help my friends, our party?s candidates, to carry out their election campaign – and I want to say that it is very important for each of us throughout Georgia to cast our ballot in the elections,? Okruashvili said.

He said that October 5 ?is the front line.?

?We all should realize that we face serious risks and serious challenges, and the series of arrests [of four Russian officers and eleven Georgian citizens suspected of espionage] is conformation of this,? Okruashvili added.
