S.Ossetia Marks ‘Independence’

Breakaway South Ossetia is celebrating the 16th anniversary of its ‘independence’ on September 20.

But the celebration ceremonies are reportedly more modest than it was last year. No military parade is scheduled in Tskhinvali, unlike the 2005 celebrations.

“Guests from Transdnestria, Crimea, Abkhazia, as well as representatives of the Russian Cossack troops” have arrived in South Ossetia to participate in the celebration ceremonies, the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reports.
