Georgian Foreign Minister Meets Serbian President

Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili met with Serbian President Boris Tadic in London on September 17, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.

Neither Bezhuashvili?s visit to London nor talks with the Serbian leader were announced in the Ministry?s schedule, which is regularly posted on its official web-site.

?The two [officials] discussed regional cooperation and issues related to security. A special emphasize was made on the Kosovo issue?  Both [officials] expressed concern that the possible use of a Kosovo model [in respect of other conflicts] may lead to very negative consequences,? the Georgian Foreign Ministry said in an informational note.

The unscheduled meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister and the Serbian President has taken place shortly after Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic called for the cancellation of Serbian arms exports to Georgia, alleging that these weapons may be used against Russia.

After the meeting Bezhuashvili left for the United States, where he will hold a series of bilateral talks with U.S. officials, as well as with his counterparts from Slovenia, Canada, Spain and Iceland on the sideline of the 61st UN General Assembly Session.
