Georgian WWII Veterans Mark Day of Victory

Georgian veterans of World War II gathered on May 9 at the memorial of the Unknown Soldier in Tbilisi to mark Victory Day.

?These people deserve sincere support? Unfortunately we fail to treat them as they disserve,? Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze, who joined veterans at the memorial, said.

Government reserve funds will allocate GEL 100 for each WWII veteran as a one-time allowance, the President?s press office reported. There are about 10,500 WWII veterans in Georgia.
