Russian lawmakers from the lower house of Parliament, State Duma, are expected to launch hearings on a draft resolution calling for officially recognizing breakaway South Ossetia?s November 12 independence referendum on December 6, Russian news agencies reported.

?The State Duma believes that the Russian Federation should build its policy based on the expression of free will by the people of South Ossetia, which was expressed during the recent referendum held in full compliance to the international legal norms and procedures, as well as based on the laws of the Russian Federation,? a draft statement on South Ossetia reads.

Another document which is also expected to be discussed by the State Duma on December 6 concerns a request by breakaway Abkhazia?s Parliament for Russia to recognize the region?s independence.
