NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer hailed Georgia’s progress in the reform process and said on April 27 that NATO will open its doors to aspirant countries “when they are ready.”
“And that goes, of course, also for Georgia, having now the Individual Partnership Action Plan, having had lots of success with its reform and seeking intensified dialogue,” Scheffer said while speaking at a news conference on the sidelines of an informal meeting of Foreign Ministers from NATO member states in Sofia, Bulgaria.
