Georgia Rotates Troops in Iraq

300 servicemen from the 11th Infantry Battalion of the Georgian Defense Ministry will leave for Iraq on May 20 to become part of the coalition forces stationed there.

These soldiers will rotate with the U.S.-trained Commandos Battalion in Bakuba, in northern Iraq.

Currently there are more than 850 Georgian troops stationed in Iraq. Hence, Georgia is one of the most significant contributors to the coalition forces in terms of a country’s per capita troop deployment.
