Abkhaz Leader Turns Down Security Chief’s Resignation

Stanislav Lakoba, the Secretary of breakaway Abkhazia’s National Security Council, filed for resignation on May 10, citing disagreements over foreign policy issues as well as over some of the new appointments in the government, Apsnipress news agency reported.


However, Abkhaz leader Sergey Bagapsh turned down this resignation and said that he “understands” Lakoba’s concerns regarding the region’s foreign policy, but these problems are consequences of a the political crisis which occurred in Abkhazia after disputed presidential elections last year, according to the Apsnipress.
