Burjanadze to Focus on Border Security in Talks with EU Officials

Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze, who is visiting the Brussels since April 9, said on Monday that she will push the issue of monitoring the Russian-Georgian border during her talks with EU officials.
 
?After Russia vetoed…the prolongation of the OSCE Border Monitoring Operation [last December], we requested that the European Union monitor the situation on the Russian-Georgian border. We will ask the European Union to be more active in this regard,? Nino Burjanadze told reporters on April 11.
 
Reportedly, Nino Burjanadze will hold talks with European Union?s foreign policy chief Javier Solana and NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer during the visit.
