Kazakh Prezident Nursultan Nazarbayev said his country would be interested in participating in the privatising process of the Tbilisi-Supsa oil pipeline as well as the port of Supsa itself.
“As soon as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline enters into operation, all Azerbaijani oil would be transported through it, which leaves the Tbilisi-Supsa infrastructure. We are interested in this pipe as well as the port of Supsa itself,” Nazarbayev said at a news conference after talks with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.
President Saakashvili’s visit to Kazakhstan is aimed at increasing economic cooperation between the two countries. Georgia hopes to act as a transit point for Kazakh oil and gas. In response, the Kazakh president has indicated that his country would be interested in having stakes in Georgian pipeline and transport infrastructure.
