Abkhaz PM Warns over Tbilisi’s ‘Forceful Intervention’

Prime Minister of breakaway Abkhazia Nodar Khashba said that the Georgian side “might take advantage of the current situation in Abkhazia in order to solve the problem between Abkhazia and Georgia with force.”

“Because of this reason, the Abkhaz armed forces are on high combat readiness and not because of a situation in Abkhazia. Abkhaz forces will not interfere in the internal problems,” Interfax news agency quoted Khashba as saying on November 13.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry of Abkhazia issued a statement on November 13 expressing protest regarding a statement issued by the Georgian Foreign Minister late on November 12.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry accused Russia of interfering in Georgia’s internal affairs when it issued a statement claiming that Moscow will “undertake measures in order to protect its interests in Abkhazia.”
