U.S. Government Team Bound for Georgia

Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Lynn Pascoe will lead an interagency team to meet with officials of Georgia?s Interim Government on December 3-6.

As the U.S. Department of State reports, the team will consist of representatives from the White House, the Department of State, Treasury, Departments of Defense and Justice as well as the Trade and Development Agency and the United States Agency for International Development.

The team will meet Interim President Nino Burjanadze and State Minister Zurab Zhvania as well as other executive officials. They will also meet with political party leaders. The discussions will focus on U.S.-Georgian relations.

The team will also review specific assistance proposals for Georgia?s upcoming elections and support for Georgia?s political and economic reform.
