Burjanadze: “radical measures” needed for improving Russo-Georgian Relations

Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze said in the interview to the Moscow-based radio station Echo Moskvy on September 30 that ?radical steps are needed to improve and normalize the relationship between Georgia and Russia.?

?We do not reqest much. We only ask Russia to respect our national interests, sovereignty and territorial integrity. When Russian politicians say that they respect Georgia?s territorial integrity and introduce visa regime for one half of Georgia [excluding breakaway Abkhazia and South Ossetia], when they resume railway link to a conflict region without notification of the Georgian authorities, of course, their statements are put to doubt,? Burjanadze said.

The Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson said Georgia seeks normal, equal relations with Russia.

Burjanadze participated in the meeting of the Speakers of the Caucasian states (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Russia) in Moscow on September 29-30.
