Interior Minister Wants to Expend Anti-Crime Operation

(Tbilisi, January 16, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Interior Minister Koba Narchemashvili told the reporters on January 15 that the criminal situation in western Georgian region of Samegrelo, which borders with Georgia’s breakaway Abkhazia, deteriorated.

He did not rule out that anti-crime operation might be necessary to improve the situation in the region.

Georgian law enforcers have already carried out anti-crime operations in Pankisi gorge, capital city Tbilisi and Kutaisi, main city of the western region of Imereti.
