Armenian, Georgian PMs Hold Informal Meeting

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan briefly visited Georgia on January 15 and met his Georgian counterpart Mamuka Bakhtadze in a town of Bolnisi. This came a day after Pashinyan was re-appointed Prime Minister, following his party’s decisive victory in snap elections.

PM Bakhtadze  congratulated his Armenian counterpart on his official appointment. Specifics of the agenda were not disclosed.

The official reports say the meeting was informal. The Georgian PMs office said the parties discussed bilateral relations, and expressed hopes for further continuation of the “fruitful cooperation” between Georgia and Armenia.

According to PM Pashinyan’s press office, PM Bakhtadze expressed hope that “the ongoing active dialogue would foster the development and expansion of multifaceted cooperation between the two friendly nations.”

Armenian media reports that the two leaders briefly spoke with Bolnisi residents, many of which are ethnic Armenians.
