Slovakia’s FM Visits Georgia

Miroslav Lajčák, Slovakia’s deputy prime minister and minister of foreign and European affairs, is visiting Georgia on April 8-9 as part of his trip to three South Caucasus states.

Preparation for EU Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius in November is high on the agenda of Lajčák’s talks in Tbilisi, Yerevan and Baku, according to the Foreign Ministry of Slovakia.

After the meeting on April 8 Georgian Foreign Minister, Maia Panjikidze, thanked her Slovak counterpart for his country’s support to Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration and said that Slovakia was “helping actively” Georgia to achieve initiating of the Association Agreement with the EU by the time of the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius.

In Tbilisi the Slovak Foreign Minister will also meet PM Bidzina Ivanishvili; Defense Minister Irakli Alasania; State Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Alexi Petriashvili, as well as vice-speaker of Parliament Manana Kobakhidze. On April 9 he will visit EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM) and meet its head Andrzej Tyszkiewicz.
