Russian Defense Minister Says Georgia Can’t Deal with Pankisi

(Tbilisi, February 3, Civil Georgia) – Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov says Georgia “can not restore order in Pankisi.”

Ivanov said Russia respects Georgian sovereignty, but “it can not tolerate the activities of the bands of international terrorists under our nose and do nothing.” He also said “it should not have been easy for Pakistan to reverse its policies by 180 degrees as well.”

Russian Defense Minister said Russia expects Georgia to “arrest all terrorists and boeviks” and subsequent transfer of them “where they belong.”
