Georgian President Congratulates Donald Trump on Election Victory

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili congratulated Donald Trump on winning the U.S. presidential elections.

“Mr. President, I am looking forward to our future cooperation that will further intensify the strategic partnership between our countries,” President Margvelashvili said in his message.

“I am confident that through our joint efforts, strong ties and long-lasting Georgian-American friendship will further enhance and become ever stronger for the mutual benefit of our nations,” Margvelashvili said.

Donald Trump, who visited Georgia in April 2012 as a businessman, is set to become the 45th President of the United States after winning the November 8 presidential elections over Democrat candidate, Hillary Clinton.

President Margvelashvili said that American people voted for “further advancement, success, peace and security to achieve new heights for their county`s prosperous development.”

“Your mission as the President takes place in the essential period when the entire world and humanity face new challenges, interconnected and growing threats that further impose the highest responsibility to us to protect and maintain universal values as freedom, democracy and peace,” reads the message. “As the role of the United States in ensuring stability and security worldwide had always been unique, I am confident that through strong American leadership we will witness a safer, more secured and more prosperous world.”

“Shared values are the basis of our counties` historically friendly relations. Our nations jointly go through various challenges firmly standing together to protect common welfare and security. Georgian soldiers have served shoulder to shoulder with the U.S. forces to maintain stability worldwide. Our unity is essential to promote peaceful future for our states and humanity,” Margvelashvili said.

“Constantly, on every step towards the advancement, we feel enormous assistance and courage from American people and government. We are grateful and highly value the unwavering support that the U.S. renders to our country`s statehood, democratic development, sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as our European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations,” he said.
