Turkish Warship Makes Port Visit in Batumi

Turkish navy frigate TCG Yavuz (F240) arrived in Georgia’s Black Sea port of Batumi on April 3 for a two-day visit.

Turkey’s consul general in Batumi, Yasin Temizkan, and officials from the Georgian coast guard welcomed the frigate, according to information posted on social media accounts of Turkey’s Consulate-General in Batumi.

An official from the Georgian Interior Ministry told Civil.ge on Sunday that it’s a “scheduled” visit during which joint training exercises will be held with the participation of the Georgian coast guard boat. The coast guard is under the Interior Ministry’s subordination.

Four NATO ships, assigned to Standing NATO Mine Counter-Measures Group 2 (SNMCMG2), among them two Turkish navy ships, made port call in Batumi in mid-February.
