Russia’s policies towards its neighbors should be “alarming” for the entire international community, Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili said while speaking at the 4th Global Baku Forum on March 10.
“The Russian Federation has explicitly spoken about its attitudes towards its neighbors, which I think is alarming not only for Georgia, but it should be alarming for whole of the international community,” he said.
Margvelashvili also said that Russia views its neighbors as a sphere of its influence and after Georgia, now Ukraine has also become a victim of these policies.
He said that destabilizing the region will not be good for Russia itself too.
In Baku President Margvelashvili also met his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev and stressed the importance of new deal with Azerbaijani state energy company SOCAR according to which Georgia will receive additional 500 million cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan.
“This agreement is a clear demonstration of full mutual understanding existing between the two countries,” the Georgian President said.
