Georgia Accuses Russia of ?Chauvinistic Hysteria?

Russia is violating internationally recognized principles of human rights by carrying out state-sponsored ?chauvinistic hysteria? against the ethnic Georgian population of Russia, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on October 7.

?Georgian citizens, including women and children, are rounded up and deported in various cities of Russia only because of their ethnic background? Russian law enforcers are raiding firms owned by Georgians? Georgian citizens have been sacked from Russian-administered schools located on Georgian territory,? the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.

?Pseudo-patriotic and neo-fascist organizations, which have welcomed these moves by the Kremlin, have already joined this campaign of chauvinistic hysteria and ethnic cleansing against Georgians launched by the Russian Federation?s authorities…

?Against the background of such an attitude towards Georgia and Georgians by the Russian authorities it is impossible for Russia to act as an impartial mediator in the conflict resolution process [in Abkhazia and South Ossetia],? the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.
