One Dies in Clash in Abkhaz Conflict Zone

One attacker was killed and three Georgian policemen were injured on September 30 after a group of unknown armed men opened fire on a Georgian police post in the village of Shamgona, located in the Zugdidi district at the border with breakaway Abkhazia.


The Georgian Foreign Ministry said the attackers were ?Abkhaz separatists? and emphasized that the attack took place in the zone of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping troops deployed in the conflict zone.
