Okruashvili: Extradition of Russian ‘Spies’ not Ruled Out

Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili told Imedi television on September 29 that the extradition of Russian military officers arrested in Georgia on spying charges is possible.

“They [the Russian authorities] have only one resource at their disposal: to convince our foreign friends to [recommend to] us to show good will and expel these people [spy suspects] from the country,” Okruashvili said.

“International practice shows that usually a person [spy suspect] is always expelled from the country. We may come to this decision – I do not rule this out. But those Georgian citizens who are charged with treason will be strictly punished,” Okruashvili said.

Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili said on September 29 that Russia is pulling out its “spies remaining in Georgia.”
