Burjanadze Says Fair Elections Major Priority

Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze said on September 5 that Georgia?s major priority in next few months will be to hold fair and democratic local self-governance elections, which are scheduled for October 5.

?One of the major priorities for us in coming months will be local self-governance elections. I can state on behalf of the Parliament that our major priority is to hold fair elections. We have requested that international organizations send as many observers as possible to cover many constituencies and create additional international guarantees to hold fair and transparent elections,? Nino Burjanadze said at a session of the Parliamentary Bureau.
