S.Ossetia Presidential Polls Set for November

The Parliament of breakaway South Ossetia set presidential elections in the unrecognized republic for November 12, 2006, the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported on September 1.


No other candidates besides current South Ossetia leader Eduard Kokoity have yet announced the intention to run in the upcoming polls.


The breakaway region also plans to hold an independence referendum this year.
