N.Ossetian Leader Wants Border Crossing with Georgia Reopened

Leader of Russia?s North Ossetian Republic Teimuraz Mamsurov has called on the Russian authorities to speed up measures to reopen the Zemo Larsi border crossing point with Georgia, RIA Novosti news agency reported on August 25.


The Zemo Larsi crossing point on the Russo-Georgian border was closed down by Russia on July 8, citing a need to carry out repair works. The Zemo Larsi checkpoint is the only legally operating border crossing point between Russia and Georgia. Two other checkpoints are located in breakaway South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
