The Russian deputy foreign minister, Grigory Karasin, met with the German ambassador in Moscow, Walter-Jurgen Schmid, and the French charge d?affaires in Moscow, Phillip Lefaur, (ex-ambassador of France to Georgia) on August 17 to discuss the August 6 missile incident in Georgia.
The Russian side informed the French and German diplomats of Moscow’s ?efforts to investigate the incident,? the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
A group of Russian military experts said on August 17, after two days looking into the incident, that the evidence provided by Georgia was fabricated and the incident probably staged.
