The Georgian side reported that the Georgian village of Tamarasheni in the South Ossetian conflict zone came under intense fire from the South Ossetian-controlled areas late on May 28.
The Georgian media sources said that mortars and grenade launchers were used in the attack.
But the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee said that the capital Tskhinvali and the Ossetian village of Kverneti were shelled by the Georgian side overnight on May 29.
Meanwhile in Tbilisi some opposition lawmakers demanded from the Georgian authorities to curb South Ossetian secessionist authorities? provocations.
?We, the Conservative Party, demand from the Georgian special services to carry out a special operation against [South Ossetian leader Eduard] Kokoity? A one-hour special operation will be enough to capture that separatist [Kokoity],? MP Bidzina Gujabidze of the opposition Conservative Party told Rustavi 2 TV on May 29.
?We should be extremely cautious in order not to yield provocations? But at the same time the Georgian government has a legitimate right to use all measures at its disposal in case of critical situation,? Giga Bokeria, a lawmaker from the ruling National Movement party, said on May 29.
