Police arrested on May 17 seven employees of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) and charged them with negligence.
The case involves the disappearance of old banknotes ? worth of GEL 96,000 ? which were withdrawn from circulation by the NBG for destruction years ago, the Interior Ministry said.
NBG said in a press release that it had discovered the disappearance of the old banknotes a year and a half ago.
